Insides

Yesterday I got to have an endoscopy done. It was very much needed! I have been having problems swallowing my food for about 3 years now and within the last year has gotten worse. It is annoying and sometimes painful to deal with. I finally talked to my doctor about it and the endoscopy was recommended to be done. I have some awesome picture's of my insides now! (of which I will spare the sharing of, they are kinda gross!) Dr. Boschert ended up stretching part of my esophagus due to a stricture which was causing the problem. A stricture is scar tissue that builds from having reflux. I was so excited to eat yesterday with no problems! I'm glad it's over with and hopefully when I go back to see the Doc in a couple of months the problem will have been rectified and nothing more will need to be done. Thanks to Jason and my Mom for taking care of me and being the "responsible adult" to supervise me from the sedation!

School is a bore when you're stuck indoors. Make it fun put it out in the sun!

I bet most of you have no idea where that song came from that is the title of my blog. I would like to see if I'm the only one.....

Tonight is our last class for getting licensed to do foster care. It's a bitter sweet feeling. I really enjoy these classes. It makes me think a lot about myself and the kind of mother I am and I leave wanting to be better. I am amazed at what challenges these kids have to face in their lives. I am grateful for the eye opening I have received so that I may be better prepared to help and mother these children while their parents get better and fix things.

This last weekend I watched the movie Precious. I realize that most of you may never watch this show because of the rating. I chose to watch it because of the content and story line. I really feel this gave me a small insight to what some of the children in the world face day to day. The reality for them is drastically different than mine and I hope by educating and ready-ing myself I can be a good strength to them. The movie Precious has very graphic language and reality of how some people try to cheat the systems. I left this show crying my eyes out because I couldn't believe how anyone could treat another person the way this girl Precious was treated. At the end of the movie Precious leaves her mother and takes her 2 children with her that were fathered by her sexually abusive birth father. It was a very heart wrenching movie and I highly recommend seeing it at least once. Don't compromise your values if you can't handle language. The mother loves the "f" word and it is said often in this show. I wanted to punch the mother out! She made me so mad. I can see why the actress's in this movie were raved about in their acting. Monique had to go to a very dark place to play this character. She was amazingly brash, and rude and inconsiderate. I also realize that a very small majority actually act this way towards any human being.

Back to the foster parenting classes. They have been a great refresher in even my own children's development and how they cope with their past. I am so glad that we decided to do foster care again. Karlee asked if I will come home tonight from class with a baby in my tummy. What do you think? I had to really hold back on not laughing out loud at that statement! At least she has some idea of where babies come from. The kids both really want a baby to come and live with us. I hope that they aren't too disappointed when 3 or 4 year old moves in with us! And luckily the classes aren't totally over for us either. We have to take 12 hours of classes once we have licensed to keep our license current. Though this time we get to choose the 'specialty' area that we would like to learn more about which I am looking forward to. So school's out for summer and I will enjoy my free evenings with baseball practice and games. I'm also looking forward to running again. Yay for the time change! I love the longer day's, they make me happy!
