Project Finished!

As some of you know Jason was home since Christmas laid off from work. While home we decided to finish the bedrooms for the kids so we could do some shuffling around now that we have Blake added to our family. Jason really enjoyed this project. He felt like he accomplished something instead of wasting time away waiting for work to start again. I must say that he did a FANTASTIC job! I am so, so lucky to have married such a handy man. He saved us so much money by doing this all himself. We also were able to get my salon floor fixed after the flood we had in December.

There are just a few final finishing touches to do. Now that the tax money has been well spent on this project, we are going to enjoy the extra space! Blake has moved into Austin's old bedroom and Karlee's room will be turned into a computer/extra bedroom. We are keeping our foster parenting license open after we finalize the adoption of Blake since we have the extra room and bed, we might as well help out where we can!

We finished reading the Book of Mormon as as family this week. Cover to cover. It's pretty exciting! It only took us 2 years to do it. Now that Karlee is reading its been going much faster. We have started over in 1Nephi and I'm hopeful that we can finish it in a year this time around!

Karlee's 7!

Saturday we had my family over to celebrate Karlee's birthday. She was so excited that she waited in the living room for an hour waiting for everyone to come. She fell asleep it took so long!

Due to the job circumstances I got to make the cake this year instead of ordering a super duper Walmart cake. Karlee chose a Tiara cake. It's made with a special cake pan that leaves an indentation for a whipped topping made with cream cheese, powdered sugar and whipping cream. She chose raspberries, strawberries and peaches as her topping on the cake. It was so good that there wasn't any left and I made 2 cakes!

She blew out the candles and this is the face she pulled. Maybe she knew her wish wouldn't come true?

She opened her presents and this is the only picture I have.....for some reason they didn't upload correct.

After the party we took Karlee to Wingers to redeem her free kids meal. The servers had her stand on her chair while they did a birthday chant for her. She thought that was pretty funny. Then they gave her a free piece of their concrete pie! It was a great day for her. Now that today is her ACTUAL birthday we will keep it low key. I sang happy birthday to her to wake her up for school. She took some fruit snacks to share with her class and for dinner she wanted me to make Salisbury Steak. She is such a good and crazy girl! I can't believe that she is 7 already. Where does the time go?!
